Learning on site
The
Landkreis Görlitz (administrative district of Görlitz) belongs to the 40 model regions of the Federal Republic of Germany (17 administrative districts and 23 independent cities; 11 of them are in the states of the former GDR) which were chosen for the new co-operation project "
Learning on site“ on 17 June 2009 in Berlin.
150 administrative districts and independent cities in total from all over Germany applied for the programme "Learning on site" of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the European Social Fund. Among the participants, the administrative district Görlitz was able to win through a two stage application procedure with its application: "Future through Education in the Administrative District Görlitz: With Energy and without Limits".
From September 2009, Görlitz will implement this funded programme for a period of three years together with the PONTES agency and with the support of the
Deutschen Kinder- und Jugendstiftung (German Children and Youth Foundation), the
Deutschen Bundesstiftung Umwelt (German Environmental Foundation) as well as the
Stiftung Internationales Begegnungszentrum St. Marienthal (Foundation).
106 German foundations in total get involved within the programme "Learning on site" in an unique partnership of federal and state governments, municipalities and foundations in favour of the education on site. The foundations involved provide their expert knowledge and their experiences to the municipalities within the partnership, e. g. within the management of successful educational projects, within process consulting and the development of innovative ideas.
